Faculty Book Talk Series: “Dude Things” with Alessandro Giammei

To celebrate the publication of Alessandro Giammei’s Cose da maschi, a new book of essays on trans-historical ‘dude things’, the Program in Early Modern Studies & the Department of Italian invites you to a show&tell séance. We will conjure and exorcise masculinity (toxic or otherwise) by sharing objects that, for some reason, we associate with the power to summon it.

Bring your “dude thing” in the form of a material object and/or of a text or image that represents it: the coolest one will be awarded a signed copy of the book. Alessandro will start the séance with his first communion catenina (and the golden necklace in Titian’s portrait of Pietro Aretino, and the necklaces of Italian trappers).

As always, light refreshments will be served…join us for a fun, fabulous break from the rush of April!
