Professor Justine Walden (University of Wisconsin-Madison) will be workshopping a part of her new book project, Naming Race in the Renaissance, which ”highlights race’s religious underpinnings by showing how in thirteenth century Italy, the terms of race were used to reduce Muslims and Jews to the ontic status of mere bodies.”
